Last year I had a wedding booked at Balata at The Sonnenalp Golf Club in Edwards CO. Half way through the planning process we found out that Balata was closing, and Kelly Liken’s new restaurant, Harvest, was taking it’s place! We were so excited! What a wonderful surprise and awesome score for my clients!
The restaurant opened in June, and the wedding was in July. During the planning process Sarah John, the event manager, was so accommodating and fun to work with! A month before the wedding the restaurant was still under construction which would normally freak me out , but I wasn’t even worried because I knew we were in the hands of serious professionals and the restaurant was going to be ready in time.
On the day of the wedding, everything went perfectly! The newly renovated restaurant was stunning, the food was delicious, and the staff crushed it! As a former Ritz-Carlton food and beverage manager, I’ve been a part of many new restaurant openings, and I know things usually don’t go that well in the beginning, so I was extremely impressed!
Harvest is my pick for this months venue report not only because it’s a new restaurant , but because it’s so different from any other restaurant in the Vail Valley. Here are some highlights from my interview with event manager, Sarah John and event coordinator, Meg Rule.
Party Girl Events: Do you have to be a Sonnenalp Golf Club member to have an event at Harvest?
Sarah: Not at all! We get people from all over! What’s really good about having an event at Harvest is the clients only have to work with Meg & I. It’s a simple process, and we can customize stuff. Harvest is a great venue for weddings, corporate events, and even family events. We have a great kids menu, and our staff is really cool with kids.
Party Girl Events: Can group guests golf if they want? That would be a great activity for the groomsmen.
Sarah: Not in the morning, but there are afternoon tee times available for group guests.
Party Girl Events: What’s the best part about Harvest as a venue?
Sarah: Everything is beautiful. The views from the deck, newly renovated space, warm timeless feel, all the different hardwoods, the ceremony green. The personalized service. Kelly leading the kitchen enables us to create menus that are specifically catered to individuals.
Party Girl Events: What are you doing for Valentine’s Day?
Sarah: We’re doing a couples yoga class, and dinner. We’re finalizing the plans this week, and we will let you know asap.
Party Girl Events: Thanks for letting me interview you for my blog!
