On Aug. 6, 2015 Meg and Avi Levine were the first couple to get married at Gondola One, and I was their lucky wedding planner!
I love this ceremony location because it’s right in the heart of Vail! Meg and Avi’s rehearsal dinner was on top of the mountain at The 10th, and their reception was in the village at The Lodge at Vail, so the location could not have been any more perfect.
We used the Express Lift Coffee House as the staging area for the bridal party. It’s right next to the Gondola, and it wasn’t open to the public, so we had it all to ourselves. The coffee house could also be booked as rain backup space if needed.
A couple things to keep in mind when booking Gondola One for your wedding…
- It’s not the most private space, so randoms can watch your ceremony.
- There is a service road that runs right in front of the gondola, and sometimes trucks drive by. Stacey Romer from Vail Group Sales helped us out by asking the workers not to drive on that road during the ceremony. To be on the safe side, I asked one of my planners to stand at the road with a sign which turned out to be a good idea because there were a few workers who didn’t get the memo.
- The ceremony space is an empty lawn, so all of the chairs have to be rented, power needs to be set up etc… I recommend hiring a wedding planner for this one!
